This is a small to medium map meant to invoke the atmosphere of the squalid underside of Victorian London.

For this map I had to piece together my own custom buildings and structures to give the impression of the neighborhoods in London where Jack the Ripper was known to have struck in 1888.  For inspiration I drew upon memories from various sources: films such as From Hell, Sweeney Todd, Oliver!, Mary Poppins, and A Muppets Christmas Carol; as well as video games such as Nightmare Creatures.  I also referred to maps and illustrations used in various Sherlock Holmes stories.  The result is Whitechapel 1888.  Some of the features that I'm most proud of are the barrels floating in the open sewage/drainage systems, the industrial period foundry-style roofs and chimneys, and the custom skyline screenshot.

The layout is fairly symetrical with a main thoroughfare flanked by two secondary alleyways.  The Uprising gamemode is by far the most fun on this map, but it supports the others reasonably well.   I found that the Capture the Diamond mode is slightly in favor of the UFLL, due to the exact placement of their diamond, which makes it slightly easier to defend.  I tried several tweaks to remedy this, but never quite found the right solution.  At any rate, the map is still fun, but is not recommended for more than 8 players or you will get some framerate lag.

This is for PS3 right? This games edit mode looks REALLY cool. Looks exactly like an old time London, I didn't even need to play it to realize that too!

Thanks Pieboy- there is a FC2 for PS3 but this was made on the Xbox 360 version. I would play it before you give it a '10' though, lol. There were definitely some things I wasn't happy with in terms of balance, and there are a couple of spots where a player can 'escape' the map and take cheap shots, in spite of several attempts to prevent it. But it's still fun as long as you're playing with people who aren't trying to exploit those things. (I'm looking at you Govner!;-)
